Telford 1 Solihull 1

In a a game that was played in challenging conditions both sides contributed to an entertaining game in which both sides tried to play passing football. Telford started with Jed Brzezicha in goal and with a back four of Jamie Evans, Amir Sattar, Dan Vaughan and Bobbly Blythe.

The defence had to cope with the slope and a howling gale, but with the assistance of the midfield of Jake Mottershead, Ross Fraser and Matthew Bailey, they were able to cope with the majority of the early Solihull attacks. The forward line of Tom Kenny, Brandon Taylor and debutant Jordan Bailey showed good movement and caused the Solihull defence problems and Telford had a number of opportunities. The best move of the game resulted in the Telford goal in which from Jed,  the ball was moved down the left and and from Jordan's pass, an intelligent run by Brandon, left him to round the Solihull goalkeeper and score.

Solihull replied with a goal that was due to some sloppy defending, but still Telford continued with a passing game. Telford suffered a number of injuries in the first half but the entrance of Luke Hester, Lawrence Brammer, Ben Osei and debutant Reis Mahey all made contributions and Telford continued to play some good football in a more physical second half.

Telford had a number of chances with Tom, Brandon and Ben all going close in the second half, and whilst we did lose a little shape in an effort to get the winning goal, Jed was only troubled a couple of times and Dan did make one superb tackle when we were caught at the back.
The standard of the passing game showed from the hard work in training and offers a positive future if we can learn to pressure the ball better when the opposition has the ball.

Special thanks to Mark Parker for refereeing the game and to Jason Kennedy and Guy Mottershead for help with the nets.
